Bradley Loewen is a Researcher in Sustainable Built Environment at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and is a collaborator in the Horizon 2020 smart cities project, +CityxChange, focusing on citizen participation in smart city development. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Tartu, gained through participation as an Early Stage Researcher in the Marie Curie ITN project, RegPol2, about socio-economic and political responses to regional polarisation in Central and Eastern Europe. His interdisciplinary background bridges topics such as urban development, governance, health and economic policy, which he practiced as a researcher through appointments at the University of British Columbia, University of Economics, Prague, and University of Toronto. He has published several chapters and articles about regional and innovation policy and governing institutions and guest-edited a special issue of the journal, Halduskultuur – Administrative Culture. He has participated in numerous conferences and workshops across Europe, has served as a reviewer for high ranking journals and the European Investment Bank, and is an active member of the Regional Studies Association.
